Johaan Paulus Beringer (John Paul Barringer), born in 1721 in Schwaigern, Germany, was the son of Johaan Matthaus Beringer and Anna Catharina Boger. He left Germany for Rotterdam and then America in 1743. He married Ann Eliza Eisman around 1744 and they settled in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania, near Mount Bethel (now in Northampton Co.). Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylavania and North CArolinba. The book also covers four generations of ancestors in Germany.

Following up on her 2004 work, "Families of Cabarrus County, North Carolina," Kathleen Marler has now assembled an alphabetically arranged collection of abstracts of early inhabitants of Mecklenburg County, the parent county of Cabarrus. The principal sources for her new book are Mecklenburg County Deed Volumes 1-3 (July 1778 through September 1786), Mecklenburg wills, the 1790 U.S. Census for Mecklenburg County, and several other primary and secondary sources.







The Ancestors of Claude Rankin Moser

Claude Rankin Moser was born in North Carolina in 1898. He married Bland Moser and they had seven children. Although he worked through out the south, he always considered North Carolina home. Material on his paternal family lines back to Leonard Moser who came to America from Germany about 1732 is given in this volume. Additional data on more current members of his family is also included. Today descendants live in North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, and elsewhere.
