Book Description

Level one contains beginner readers which introduce the sounds s,a,t,p,i,n. Each book contains a phonemic awareness activity which provides ongoing "training" for children in learning to hear and work with sounds. In the second pre-reading activity, the high frequency words, used within each story, are introduced. Whether it be for guided reading groups or parental discussion, the post-reading activities provided at the back of each Level one story allow for further learning. Through literal, inferential and evaluative questioning, children are given the opportunity to share and discuss what they have read and a vocabulary focus explicitly teaches a new word relating to each story.
