Excerpt from the tale: "What is that?" asked Basil. "It is a big black and white animal," said Rosemary. « Qu'est-ce que c'est ? », demanda Basilic. « C'est un gros animal noir et blanc », dit Romarin. "It is very boring," said the Pansy sisters. "We have beautiful bright colours. That animal is just black and white and boring!" « C'est à mourir d'ennui », dirent les Sœurs Pensées. « Nous avons de belles couleurs vives. Cet animal est juste noir, blanc et terne. » "Animals are boring and smelly!" laughed Basil. All the plants laughed. Animals were so boring. « Les animaux sont ternes et sentent mauvais ! », riait Basilic. Toutes les plantes riaient, les animaux étaient tellement ternes. "I can hardly see it," said Rosemary, "It is black and white just like the road crossing. It must be a Chameleon!" « Je peux à peine le voir », dit Romarin. « Il est noir et blanc, exactement comme le passage piéton. C'est forcément un caméléon ! »
