Latin Solo Series for Clarinet

Book Description

Latin Solo Series for Clarinet Author: Andrew D. Gordon Catalog no: ADG220 The idea for this book series is to give instrumentalists the opportunity to practice solo improvisational techniques while playing along to rhythm tracks of keyboards, guitar, bass, drums/percussion in various different Latin styles including Calypso, Mambo, Salsa, Songo, Bossa, Guaracha, Samba and Latin-Blues. Memorable melodies along with more Bluesier sounding melodic lines have been created over the various chord progressions used in these various Latin styles. "During Andrew's late teenage years, he had the opportunity of developing and improving his improvisational soloing skills by playing and jamming with his band mates for hours at a time during practice sessions 3 or 4 evenings a week. Now with modern technology you can practice with the play-a-long rhythm tracks developing your skills in playing the many riffs/phrases and putting them together to create a solo over the various chord progressions. The 24 grooves totalling over 200 riffs/phrases and play-a-long tracks consists of a variety of tempos and keys. Each groove has a variety of riffs to learn that are generally 4 or 8 measures in length. It would be beneficial if you could memorize these riffs so that you can experiment using different permutations of the riffs as well as being used as a starting off point for one's own improvisations. Each riff has been recorded with a rhythm track with each style having an extended play-a-long track, around 3 minutes in length, recorded without the solo part so you can practice the riffs that you have learned. Also, these musical phrases or riffs may be interchanged from one groove to another and should be learned in as many keys as possible.

Ultimate Blues Organ Riffs

Book Description

Due to the high demand of two of Andrew D. Gordon's blues piano/keyboard books, 100 Ultimate Blues Riffs and the 12 Bar Blues Bible, he has adapted examples from the two books along with new examples into a blues organ book and Ultimate Blues Organ Riffs is the result. There is an increased interest in playing the organ these days as many keyboard players are adding organ modules, organs, software etc., to their array of instruments. This book consists of 96 riffs, in many different keys, and covers a wide range of blues organ styles including Blues, Funk, Gospel, Jazz & Rock. The music notation consists of the right and left hand parts as well as a bass line. Although primarily written and recorded with the organ in mind, pianists and keyboard players will also find the material in this book very useful. All the 96 examples have been recorded twice, the first time with the organ right and left hand parts, guitar rhythm, bass and drums. The second time, has the rhythm guitar part, bass and drums so that the keyboard player can practice along with the rhythm tracks.

Blues Flute Practice Sessions Volume 1 In All 12 Keys

Book Description

Blues Flute Practice Sessions Volume 1 In All 12 Keys Catalog Number: ADG237 Author: Andrew D. Gordon Publisher: ADG Productions I have created various Blues riffs and has transposed them into all 12 keys along with backing tracks to practice with giving you the student a fun way of learning how to play in all keys. We all learned how to play our scales in all 12 keys so I have taken that concept and applied it to learning to play the Blues so that you can try to become equally adept at playing in as many keys as possible. I have heard from teachers who have used my “100 Ultimate Blues Riffs” book who will only allow a student to move on to the next riff once they have mastered playing the riff they are working on in all 12 keys, certainly a great but challenging musical exercise. Each of the riffs are either 2 or 4 measures in length that are notated and recorded around the cycle of 4th.s Also, there is a notation page whereby the riff is being used in a 12 bar blues progression so that you can see how to apply the riff to a real world situation. Each riff has been recorded 4 times: 1. Flute with rhythm tracks recorded around the cycle of 4th.s 2. Rhythm tracks recorded around the cycle of 4th.s to practice with 3. Flute with rhythm tracks recorded in a 12 bar blues progression in a designated key. 4. Rhythm tracks recorded in a 12 bar blues progression in the same key. Reasons for practicing in all 12 keys. Often a singer cannot reach certain notes in the key that you have learned the song in, therefore you will probably be asked to change the key of the song which you can do with confidence knowing all 12 keys. Having the knowledge of playing in all 12 keys, it will then become easier to learn new songs, whatever key they are in. Blues often use the keys of C, F, G, Bb, Eb, Guitar music often uses the keys of E, A, D, by learning as many keys as possible will enable you to adapt to the musical situation you are playing in. Taking riffs, chord progressions etc. through all 12 keys is a great ear training tool relying on your ears to play in keys that you are not used to before the muscle memory sets in. Practicing in all 12 keys is a great exercise for the brain, it is obviously hard work but the more you do it the benefits will become apparent. By practicing in all 12 keys you will start to see various musical patterns evolve that will help you speed up the process of learning music. It is my hope that as you practice playing in the various keys you will eventually not need the music and be able to transpose in your head.
