Lectures on the Diseases of the Urinary Organs (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from Lectures on the Diseases of the Urinary Organs I shall now' suppose that a patient applies to you, believing that he has a stricture of the urethra. Perhaps you find on inquiry that the symptoms are equivocal and you require something more than a mere knowledge of them to enable you to determine whether a stricture does or does not exist: or it may be that the symptoms are so distinct and well marked that you can have no doubt as to the existence of a stricture, but you wish to know in what part of the urethra it is situated, and what is the degree of contraction. The knowledge that is required in either of these cases, is to be obtained by the examination of the urethra with a bougie, or some other ia strument corresponding to it.
