Manual of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Book Description

Excerpt from Manual of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary: With Offices, Prayers, Devotions and Hymns for the Use of From Authentic Sources The Sodality Manual is intended to supply the Directors and members of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin with a reliable handbook and complete book of devotions in one. The First Part, which treats of the Sodality, its Statutes and Rules, is taken from authentic sources. The Rules of the Prima Primaria as here contained, are framed according to the Apostolic Constitutions of the Popes, and have been at various times approved by the Father General of the Society of Jesus, who is also Director General of the Sodality. The Second Part contains the Offices, customary to be recited by the Sodality - The Little Office of the Blessed Virgin, The Little Office of the Immaculate Conception, and The Office of the Dead. To economize space we have been obliged to give only one Nocturn at Matins, and to omit the Proper for Advent in the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Latin text and the English translation of the Offices will be found on opposite pages. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
