What a difference a year could make… Jamie Matson had once enjoyed a wonderful life working alongside her best friend, organising adventures for single-parent families, and her son Bo’s artistic flair a source of pride rather than concern. She hadn’t been prepared to lose her business, her home, and her friend. Not all in one dreadful year. And now she finds herself reeling - rebuilding her world, with Bo at its heart - swallowing her pride and asking for help. Jamie certainly hadn’t expected to find such hope and camaraderie in the queue at her local Food Bank - thrown together with an unlikely and colourful group of people - all of them struggling to get by, yet still determined to reclaim their lost careers and agency over their lives. Even if just choosing their own groceries again is a goal they can all share. As their friendships flourish, they quickly find it’s easier to be objective about each other than about themselves, and decide that - when you’re all out of options - it’s okay to bend the rules a little and create your own. A story of friendship, possibilities, and hope, that maybe tomorrow will be brighter than today...

With writer and photographer Meme McDonald, Boori leads you along the paths he has travelled, pausing to meet his family and friends, while sharing the story of his life, his pain and his hopes, with humour and compassion.

Retired architect Otto Laird is living a peaceful, if slightly bemused, existence in Switzerland with his second wife, Anika. Once renowned for his radical designs, Otto now spends his days communing with nature and writing eccentric letters to old friends (which he doesn't mail). But Otto's comfortable life is rudely interrupted when he learns that his most significant and revolutionary building, Marlowe House, a 1960s tower block estate in South London is set to be demolished. Otto is outraged. Determined to do everything in his power to save the building, he reluctantly agrees to take part in a television documentary, which will mean returning to London for the first time in twenty-five years to live for a week in Marlowe House. Once Otto becomes reacquainted with the city he called home for most of his life, his memories begin to come alive. And as he mines his past and considers life moving forward -- for himself and his building -- Otto embarks on a remarkable journey that will change everything he ever thought he knew.

The time is 1919, and for the Jewish inhabitants it is a time of uneasy relations with their gentile neighbors. After a brief period of independence, following the overthrow of the tsar, the Ukrainians saw their centuries-old dream shattered when the Bolsheviks came to power. The new rulers immediately re-absorbed the Ukraine into what came to be known as the Soviet Union. Among the Ukrainians there were those who blamed the Jews. The age-old fear of a pogrom spread among the Jews. This, the,. Is their story, as seen through the eyes of a family called Taitelman, who lived, and died, through an act of genocide forgotten by all but those who are descended from – a family called Taitelman. "I am unreservedly excited about this magnificent novel. It stirs, it is palpable, it lives! My only complaint is that I lost a night's sleep, for once I started reading, I could not stop till its end." David Lifson Jewish Telegraph Service

One quick look through this book will instantly tell you it is a diary of sorts. With little to do in this lockdown I wanted to keep a record of what was happening for myself as we are now living in some kind of new world, and not for the better it seems and I also wanted my family and grandchildren to know what I is like to live through something like that on one’s own. I cannot say it was easy to write giving the circumstance and the great loss of life worldwide. After the stroke I had I had to cut back somewhat with the major loss of energy I was experiencing. I Dedicate this book with all the restored energy and love to my wonderful daughter Jacqueline and her brilliant husband Pat. Thank you guys for all you have done. It will never be forgotten.
