Book Description

John Abernethy FRS (3 April 1764 – 20 April 1831) was an English surgeon. He is popularly remembered today for having given his name to the Abernethy biscuit, a coarse-meal baked good meant to aid digestion. Excerpt: "The idea I then had of Abernethy was, that he was a great man who lived in London. I then found that my father had studied under him, and his name became a sort of household word in our family. "
