Book Description

William T. Price was born in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, in 1824. He migrated to Wisconsin in 1845 and settled at Black River Falls, Jackson County. He married Julia Campbell in 1851. The had a son and a daughter. He was a business man and was engaged in Lumbering and farming. Active in politics, he served in state offices, and was elected to the 48th, 49th, and 50th United States Congress. He died at Black River Falls in December, 1886.

Excerpt from Memorial Addresses on the Life and Character of William T. Price: A Representative From Wisconsin; Delivered in the House of Representatives and in the Senate, Forty Ninth Congress, Second Session Resolved, That the House has learned with deep regret the announce ment of the death of Hon. William T. Price, a Representative of the State of Wisconsin. Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That a special committee of seven members of the House of Representatives and three members of the Senate be appointed to take order for attending his funeral at his residence in the State of Wisconsin, and the necessary expenses attending the execution of this order shall be paid out of the contingent fund of the House. Resolved, That the Clerk of the House communicate the foregoing reso lutions to the Senate. Resolved, That as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased the House do now adjourn. The speaker. III order that the Chair may have the Opportunity to announce the committee the question will be put, first, on the adoption of the first three resolutions.
