Performance Testing of Metal Curtain Walls

Book Description

The purpose of this paper is to review briefly the work currently being done in testing metal curtain walls--to report on the state of the art--and to point out the need for authoritative standards in this work. The usual objectives and typical methods of testing will be discussed, and some of the criteria of performance as well as some of the tentative testing procedures will be reviewed. It is not the intent to suggest any new procedures for this work or even to offer recommendations. The author is serving as a reporter, acquainted with some of the current activities and hopeful of being able to provide some background information pertinent to the functions of Committee E-6 on Methods of Testing Building Constructions. Those concerned with metal wall testing are gratified that ASTM is initiating activity in this area, and the results of these studies are already being anticipated.
