Mind Files

Book Description

Our perceptions become our perspectives, and our perspectives can become so rigid that they create problems in our lives. Perception, Perspective & Problems takes a look at the mind's process of using the past as a reference in understanding what we are currently experiencing, and how that process interferes not only with the present, but the future as well. Delve into the filing cabinets of your mind, and learn how the conclusions you formed at the end of each and every experience created expectations, and why those expectations are at the root of all your unhappiness. Discover how to live the life you were meant to by reviewing, re-assessing and re-writing the files in the filing cabinets of your mind. Learn the importance of reconnecting with God, however you choose to define Him/Her, and find out how the Holy Spirit communicates with you. Uncover the importance of forgiveness and how forgiveness really does set you free. Regain your personal power, learn to love unconditionally, and finally live the life you were meant to live!

Multidisciplinary Functions of Blockchain Technology in AI and IoT Applications

Book Description

Blockchain technology allows value exchange without the need for a central authority and ensures trust powered by its decentralized architecture. As such, the growing use of the internet of things (IoT) and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) are to be benefited immensely by this technology that can offer devices and applications data security, decentralization, accountability, and reliable authentication. Bringing together blockchain technology, AI, and IoT can allow these tools to complement the strengths and weaknesses of the others and make systems more efficient. Multidisciplinary Functions of Blockchain Technology in AI and IoT Applications deliberates upon prospects of blockchain technology using AI and IoT devices in various application domains. This book contains a comprehensive collection of chapters on machine learning, IoT, and AI in areas that include security issues of IoT, farming, supply chain management, predictive analytics, and natural languages processing. While highlighting these areas, the book is ideally intended for IT industry professionals, students of computer science and software engineering, computer scientists, practitioners, stakeholders, researchers, and academicians interested in updated and advanced research surrounding the functions of blockchain technology in AI and IoT applications across diverse fields of research.

Singular Thought and Mental Files

Book Description

The notion of singular (or de re) thought has become central in philosophy of mind and language, yet there is still little consensus concerning the best way to think about the nature of singular thought. Coinciding with recognition of the need for more clarity about the notion, there has been a surge of interest in the concept of a mental file as a way to understand what is distinctive about singular thought. What isn't always clear, however, is what mental files are meant to be, and why we should believe that thoughts that employ them are singular as opposed to descriptive. This volume brings together original chapters by leading scholars which aim to examine and evaluate the viability of the mental files framework for theorizing about singular thought. The first section of the volume addresses the central issues of the definition and nature of singular thought, as well as how it relates to the notion of a mental file. The second section addresses the legitimacy of the mental files conception of singular thought by assessing the philosophical motivations or the purported empirical support for the view, or by laying out a specific version of it. The third section helps to clarify both the notion of a mental file and the mental files conception of singular thought by focusing on their role in explaining de jure coreference in thought and language. The volume then concludes with a final section that casts doubt on the mental files conception and the legitimacy of the file-theoretic framework more generally.

Data Democracy

Book Description

Data Democracy: At the Nexus of Artificial Intelligence, Software Development, and Knowledge Engineering provides a manifesto to data democracy. After reading the chapters of this book, you are informed and suitably warned! You are already part of the data republic, and you (and all of us) need to ensure that our data fall in the right hands. Everything you click, buy, swipe, try, sell, drive, or fly is a data point. But who owns the data? At this point, not you! You do not even have access to most of it. The next best empire of our planet is one who owns and controls the world's best dataset. If you consume or create data, if you are a citizen of the data republic (willingly or grudgingly), and if you are interested in making a decision or finding the truth through data-driven analysis, this book is for you. A group of experts, academics, data science researchers, and industry practitioners gathered to write this manifesto about data democracy. - The future of the data republic, life within a data democracy, and our digital freedoms - An in-depth analysis of open science, open data, open source software, and their future challenges - A comprehensive review of data democracy's implications within domains such as: healthcare, space exploration, earth sciences, business, and psychology - The democratization of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and data issues such as: Bias, imbalance, context, and knowledge extraction - A systematic review of AI methods applied to software engineering problems

Mental Files

Book Description

François Recanati presents his theory of mental files, a new way of understanding reference in language and thought. Linguistic expressions inherit their reference from the files that we associate with them, which are classified according to their function, which is to store information derived through certain types of relation to objects.

Postcolonializing God

Book Description

Postcolonializing God examines how African Christianity especially as a practical spirituality can be truly a postcolonial reality. The book offers thoughts as to how African Christians and by that token others who were colonial subjects, may practice a spirituality that bears the hallmarks of their authentic cultural heritage, even if that makes them distinctly different from Christians from the colonizing nations. There are themes in both the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Scriptures in which God's activities result in shattering hegemony, overthrowing the powerful, diversifying communities and affirming pluralism. These have by and large been ignored or downplayed in the formation of Christian communities by western and westernized Christians in Africa. The effect of this is that much of the practice of African Christians imitates that of a European Christianity of bygone times. Postcolonializing God charts a different course uplifting these ignored readings of scripture and identifying how they are expressed again by Africans who courageously seek through the practices of mysticism and African culture to portray a God whose actions liberate and diversify human experience. Postcolonializing God seeks to express the human diversity that seems to be the Creator's ongoing desire for the world and thereby to continue to manifest the manifold and diverse nature and wisdom of God. It is only as humans refuse to be created in the image of any other human beings, that the richness and complexity of the divine image will be more closely viewed throughout the world.
