Excerpt from Minutes of the General Council of Medical Education and Registration of the United Kingdom, of the Executive Committee, Vol. 7: And of the Branch Councils, for the Year 1869 And Whereas in the year 1858 the said University of Edinburgh and the said two Universities of Aberdeen collectively chose james syme, Esq., Professor of Clinical Surgery in the University of Edinburgh, to be their representative in the said General Council for the term of five years; and again, in the year 1863, collectively chose the said james syme to be their representative in the said General Council for the further term of five years: And Whereas the said two Universities of Aberdeen, in the said Medical Act mentioned, have since the passing thereof been consolidated and united into one University; that is to say, the University of Aberdeen: And Whereas, under or by virtue of the provisions of the said Act, the said james syme, on the 19th October, 1868, ceased by lapse of time to be a Member of the said General Council.
