The committee appointed, at the last Stated Sessions, to carry into effect, the plan adopted by the Synod, for the more extensive diffusion of knowledge, by the circulation of suitable books and tracts, exhibited their report; which, being read, was approved and ordered to be re corded; and is as follows; viz. The Directors, however, feel called upon, to state to the Synods, that, in a few instances, there seems to have been a great deficiency in the preliminary education of the students, and especially as regards the Greek language; and to suggest the propriety of submitting to the Presbyteries, the import ance of adopting some means of removing this evil.
