Book Description

White County, Tennessee originally encompassed all of what is now Warren County, as well as parts of the counties of Cannon, Coffee, De Kalb, Franklin, Grundy, Putnam, and Van Buren. The 2,000 marriages in this book, as the title indicates, are the oldest on record. The marriages are arranged alphabetically by the names of the grooms and furnish the names of brides and officiating ministers, along with a number of genealogical annotations.

Meredith Reddick Rose (1778-1870) was born in Tarboro, North Carolina and married Nancy Manning. They eventually moved to Robertson County, Tennessee where they raised two sons and a daughter. Descendants live in Tennessee, Missouri and other parts of the United States.

Worsham & Washam Family History


Book Description

William Worsham was probably born in England before 1619. Before 1640 he came to Virginia. He probably had married his wife Elizabeth by 1646. Their children: William Jr., Elizabeth, John, Mary, Charles. William Sr. died about 1660 in Henrico Co., Virginia. After William died, Elizabeth married Col. Francis Eppes II of Henrico Co., Virginia. Elizabeth's will was proved in Oct. 1678.

William Taylor, Sr. (ca. 1740-1820's) moved from Virginia to North Carolina and then to Wilkes (later Elbert) County, Georgia in or about 1784. Descendants lived in Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, Iowa, Arkansas, California and elsewhere.
