"The Mt. Washington Cemetery represents the rich history of the Town of Bethlehem. People lived and toiled in order to create a community. The early settlers became farmers, deacons, shop owners, hotel owners, and politicians. Many of them served as Selectmen and Justices of the Peace. We have veterans buried here that served honorable in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. In restoring this cemetery, we hope to instill respect and pride that contribute to the ongoing sense of community in this lovely mountain top town."-- From inside cover.
