Book Description
The wall icons of St. Nicholas of Myra Orthodox Church, established by Carpatho-Rusyn immigrants in 1925 and located at 288 E 10th St. in Manhattan, are rich in meaning both spiritually and as a reflection of the life of that community, which became a parish of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese (ACROD). Throughout the years the church was decorated with wall icons dedicated in memory of various parishioners. This book offers photographs of these icons, describes their meaning, and provides biographical information and photographs of the people to whom they were dedicated. Anyone with an interest in the visual art of the Eastern Orthodox Church or Carpatho-Rusyn life in America will find it of value.
