Murder on The Darts Board

Book Description

BIOGRAPHY: SPORT. Justin "The Bachelor of Darts" Irwin". Justin Irwin used to have another moniker - that of the Director of England at the children's charity, Childline. However, in December 2004, he suddenly resigned, giving up his well-paid job in order to... play darts. His aim was simple: to qualify for the World Darts Championship in one year's time in December 2005. As a child, Justin had wanted to become a sportsman. He remembered that in 1987 he once hit treble 20 - darts nirvana! So, why couldn't he do that again, just on a more regular basis? And so began his journey. From playing with friends, he graduated to pub teams, moving on to Open Tournaments in Essex and Hampshire. From backroom bars to the glamour of the Novotel in Southampton, he learnt the difference between a "Bull-up" and "Bullseye".

Serial Killers: Murder Without Mercy

Book Description

Charles Manson, Aileen Wuornos, Burke & Hare, the Boston Strangler, the Zodiac Killer, and other remorseless serial murderers whose crimes made history. From Victorian era graveyards to a rented room in Paris to an isolated Indian farm and the California hills, the shocking murders collected in this true crime anthology span the century and the continents. The motivations are just as varied: sex, greed, bloodlust, hatred, and the sheer thrill of it all. But the more than thirty serial killers profiled here share one perverse trait: they killed without conscience, regret, or shame. Money did it for dapper French ladykiller Henri Landru, homicidal housewife Nannie Doss, Lady Bluebeard Belle Gunness, and Lonely Hearts Killers, Raymond Fernandez and Martha Beck. Deadly desires moved Green River Killer Gary Ridgway, Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe, and John Christie, whose Notting Hill home was a burial ground. And rage was the trigger for Edmund Kemper, who used his mother’s head for a dart board, and for nomadic prostitute Aileen Wuornos who turned her tricks into road kill. In crime journalist Nigel Blundell’s criminally fascinating collection, you will meet the loners, outcasts, lethal lovebirds, twisted fetishists, pleasure seekers, body snatchers, and angels of death who are the very definition of cold-blooded.

The Director Murdered

Book Description

The Deputy Superintendent Criminal Investigation CID Odongkara of Gulu Police Head Quarter was an Acholi married to a Muganda from the South of Uganda. The father of Odongkara was uncomfortable with the marriage because the southern ladies though renowned for their beauties, are wobbly in marriages which were direct contrast with the ladies from Odongkaras tribe. This phenomenon later manifested itself in Odongkaras marriage when his wife got involved in infidelity with Mukasa from the South of Uganda. This did not go well with Odongkara. That year on the eve of the New Year two criminal cases committed by unidentified criminals all leading to death were reported to Police Head quarter in Gulu. The Director of the Government Medical Research Institute in Kitgum was murdered and a child was killed by a hit and run car along Keyo road a suburb of Gulu town .The news reached Gulu Police Head quarter when Mukasa was with the wife of Odongkara at Odongkaras house who was away on official duty. Because of the gravity of the Kitgum murder, Odongkara, a well trained CID officer who used all his senses and charm to investigate crimes, was immediately assigned to go with a team comprising of a pathologist, a figure print expert, and a photographer to solve the crime. A briefing by Mukasa was held in his office in the morning before they departed for Kitgum. Odongkara arrived late for the briefing because, he noted blood mark on the right wheels of the official car of Mukasa. Heart of Dart-ness

Book Description

In Heart of Dart-ness, TV's Ned Boulting sets out to answer the forty-something year old question: What exactly is darts? Is it a sport, a freak show, a side-show, a pantomime, a riot or a party? From Purfleet to Minehead, Milton Keynes to Frankfurt, Ned embarks on a journey back to the beginning of the modern game. He tracks down some of the household names who graced childhood television screens and are still among us; names such as Andy Fordham, whose fifty bottles of Pils a day habit led to his near death on the oche, Cliff Lazarenko, whose prodigious drinking was the stuff of legend even among his not exactly abstemious peer-group, Phil Taylor, the greatest of all time, as well as the Europeans, Michael van Gerwen, and Raymond van Barneveld. Is it entertainment, or exploitation? To answer that question, as well as every other, he learns that all roads lead to the Heart of Dart-ness, and the biggest character the game has ever produced, Eric Bristow. Perhaps darts is after all, just exactly what it sets out to be; an anti-sport sport, a two-fingered salute to the establishment, a piss-up in a brewery, the ultimate escape. The best night out.

Dart Tournament Results for Eastern Europe and the Baltic States

Book Description

This book has been compiled to provide details of tournament winners and runners up of tournaments played in Eastern Europe and Baltic States. Every effort has been used to identify winners and runners up of tournaments and in some cases there will be results “missing”. If these can be identified they will be included in another edition of this book in the future. There maybe errors with names being mispelt and that ladies surnames may have changed but I've put in an enormous time and effort to correctly record the results of the tournaments. There are probably other tournaments that have been played in these countries but I've only been able to identify these ones. Research that has been completed for this book is to provide the reader and dart enthuiast information on books and links to web sites of dart manufacturers, Professional Bodies and Organisations, dart stores, and Country Darts Organisations. This is not a comprehensive list but it begins the work of collating details of darts into one place instead of being scattered around the World Wide Web across many sites and publications. I hope you enjoy the book.
