Book Description
The Minnesota Historical Society Pamphlet Collection contains printed programs of anniversary celebrations of the Battle of Monterrey, held at Fort Snelling. On September 21-23, 1846, during the Mexican War, the Third U.S. Infantry was considered the most gallant of the troops that captured the city of Monterrey. Fort Snelling was the regiment's home station for a large portion of its history. The programs contain schedules of celebration proceedings and histories of the regiment and of its honors and traditions. The 1922, 1927, and 1928 programs also contain current regimental rosters.
