POLARIZATION OF Li$sup 7$(p, N)Be$sup 7$ NEUTRONS.

Book Description

The polarization of neutrons emitted from the Li/sup 7/(p, n)Be/sup 7/ reaction at an angle of 50 deg was measured for neutron energies between 0.7 and 1.5 Mev. The polarization was deduced from the right-left asymmetry in the scattering of these neutrons from liquid oxygen. The results indicate that the polarization is close to --0.3, independent of hombarding energy. One measurement for neutrons emitted at 30 deg yields a polarization only slightly smaller than for neutrons emitted at 50 deg for the same proton energy. The total neutron cross section of oxygen was remeasured for neutron energies between 0.7 and 1.4 Mev. (auth).
