The act of prayer was central to the early Irish monastics, serving as a vital aspect of their spirituality and religious practice. The Portús na hÉireann, or “Irish Breviary,” is a Divine Office text based on the prayers and practices used within the Columbanian tradition. It consists of a series of prayers to be used by individuals, groups, or families to be prayed during a set time. This book includes all canonical hours’ prayers as established within the early Irish church with every psalm according to the Douay-Rheims Bible.
