Saints, we can learn a lot from "the disciple whom Jesus loved." This book, and series is written to focus on the victory we have by proclaiming the name of our risen Messiah, Jesus Christ. This is a complete study that measures the Old Testament with the New Testament to understand more deeply the LOVE of our God, through the life of His Son Jesus Christ.Excerpt: We can see that Jesus Christ prophesied that Peter would be crucified also but He did it in a way that explained who Peter was to himself so he could understand who God was even better! This is so intimate! Jesus tells him, "When you were young, you girded yourself and walked where you would." Jesus might be telling him that he did a good job of doing everything himself to follow him but that it was by his own power which wasn't quite enough. And saying it that way is full of grace! He could have said that "Your way ended up denying me in fear!" He could have said, "Your way failed me." But he didn't, he said it with Grace and Mercy and said you tried as hard as you could by your own efforts. He is also saying, "That by your own efforts you said you would die for me, and I love you for that even though you weren't able to do it at the time!" How reassuring is that for us saints?We see that even though it looks like Peter made a lot of mistakes in his self-will and sometimes-selfish ambitions, our God, through His Son, Jesus Christ honored him to the fullest! But Peter Be-Lived it didn't he?We can see that if we live vibrantly in our youth, "so shall your old age be" in Deuteronomy chapter 33: 25.We can learn from how vocal and passionate Paul was in his letters what it is like to face down death with joy and even desire spiritually. Look at Philemon chapter 1: 23: "My desire is to depart and be with Christ." Look at how Paul tells us in 2nd Corinthians chapter 5: 8: "We are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord."We can see Peter tell us out of his own mouth how he would follow Jesus in 1st Peter chapter 2: 21, that, "Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example."Saints, we know that Peter's death was by Nero, about 37 years later, so God made him very useful to the early church before his example was multiplied for us reading this right now.Look at what else Peter teaches us about BE-LIVING out our faith in 1st Peter 4: 15-17: "none of you should suffer as a murderer or thief or wrongdoer, or even as a meddler. But if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but glorify God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God?"
