This book contains th~ Proceedings of the World Conference of the International Nuclear Target Development Society held in Boston, October 1-3, 1979. Approximately seventy participants and registrants from the following countries attended this Conference: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, United Kingdom, German Federal Republic, Israel, Japan, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and the United States. The Conference was sponsored by the New England Nuclear Corporation. Conference Chairman in residence was Jozef Jaklovsky who was assisted by the invited Co-Chairman D. Riel of the State University of New York at Stony Brook. This publication incorporates the proceedings of an inter national conference concentrating on the general field of target preparation for use with particle accelerators. The publication includes additional contributions on target preparations by honorary members of this Society. For the first time in this field, an extensive bibliography collection (1936-June 1980) is included. Bibliography, subject index, author index, country index, and patent index have been organized by the editor. The biblioqraphy includes thin and thick particle accelerator targets and also preparation and use of targets in particle accelerators.

This volume documents an important event in the World Year of Physics 2005 and a continuation of the traditional international summer schools that have taken place in Romania regularly since 1964. On one hand, the study of exotic nuclei seeks answers about the structure and interaction of unique finite quantum mechanical many-body systems. On the other, it provides data that have an impact on the understanding of the origin of the elements in the Universe. The contributions, written by outstanding professors from prestigious research centers over the world, provide the reader with both comprehensive reviews and the most recent results in the field. Large experimental facilities are discussed together with future research projects. The book offers insights into how experiments in terrestrial nuclear physics laboratories may be combined with observations in outer space to enlarge our basic knowledge.

Therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals play a major role in today's nuclear medicine with a positive impact on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. One area of application is radiation synovectomy (RSV). Previously, RSV agents were often simple colloids. More recently, matrixes labelled with short/medium range beta emitters have been developed. However, the lack of generic and peer-reviewed production, quality control as well as clinical application guidelines and recommendations, are a major concern for their application in patients. This publication presents recommendations and suggestions for production, quality control and quality assurance procedures for Member State laboratories in charge of radiopharmaceutical production, with a focus on the latest RSV agents. It also proposes standard operating procedures for RSV application in patients. The publication aims to assist both newcomers and those currently working in the field in establishing comparable levels of control.
