Proceedings of the Fourth Euromicro Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Processing (PDP '96)

Book Description

Thirty-nine papers and 32 posters from the January 1996 workshop assess the current status of parallel computing, present recent developments, and identify major trends. More specifically, they address technical issues connected with numerical algorithms, communications, programming tools, parallel

Proceedings of the 4th Workshop on PASA '96, Parallel Systems & Algorithms, Research Center J?ulich, Germany, 10-12 April 1996

Book Description

"The PASA Workshops aim to build a bridge between theory and practice in the area of parallel systems and algorithms. Practical problems which require theoretical investigations as well as the applicability of theoretical approaches and results to practice are discussed. A particularly important aspect is the communication and exchange of experiences between various groups working in various areas of parallel computing, e.g. computer science, electrical engineering, physics and mathematics. This volume discusses many aspects of parallel computing from a theoretical as well as a practice-oriented point of view. It shows that there are a number of promising approaches for the application of formal methods to the solution of practical problems in the area of parallel systems and algorithms."--Publisher's website

Hardware/Software Co-design for Heterogeneous Multi-core Platforms

Book Description

HW/SW Co-Design for Heterogeneous Multi-Core Platforms describes the results and outcome of the FP6 project which focuses on the development of an integrated tool chain targeting a heterogeneous multi core platform comprising of a general purpose processor (ARM or powerPC), a DSP (the diopsis) and an FPGA. The tool chain takes existing source code and proposes transformations and mappings such that legacy code can easily be ported to a modern, multi-core platform. Downloadable software will be provided for simulation purposes.

Embedded System Design: Topics, Techniques and Trends

Book Description

This volume presents the technical program of the 2007 International Embedded Systems Symposium held in Irvine, California. It covers timely topics, techniques and trends in embedded system design, including design methodology, networks-on-chip, distributed and networked systems, and system verification. It places emphasis on automotive and medical applications and includes case studies and special aspects in embedded system design.

Recent Advances in Parallel Virtual Machine and Message Passing Interface

Book Description

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th European PVM/MPI users' Group Meeting held in Budapest, Hungary, in September 2004. The 50 revised papers presented together with abstracts of 10 invited contributions were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on MPI/PVM extensions and improvements, algorithms, applications, tools and environments, cluster and grid computing, performance, and parallel numerical simulation.

Formal Techniques in Real-Time and Fault-Tolerant Systems

Book Description

This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Fourth International Symposium on Formal Techniques in Real-Time and Fault-Tolerant Systems, FTRTFTS '96, held in Uppsala, Sweden, in September 1996. The 22 revised full papers presented were selected from a total of 61 submissions; also included are three invited contributions and five tools demonstrations. The papers are organized in sections on state charts, timed automata, duration calculus, case studies, scheduling, fault tolerance, specification, and verification.

New Horizons of Parallel and Distributed Computing

Book Description

Parallel and distributed computing is one of the foremost technologies for shaping future research and development activities in academia and industry. Hyperthreading in Intel processors, hypertransport links in next generation AMD processors, multicore silicon in today’s high-end microprocessors, and emerging cluster and grid computing have moved parallel/distributed computing into the mainstream of computing. New Horizons of Parallel and Distributed Computing is a collection of self-contained chapters written by pioneering researchers to provide solutions for newly emerging problems in this field. This volume will not only provide novel ideas, work in progress and state-of-the-art techniques in the field, but will also stimulate future research activities in the area of parallel and distributed computing with applications. New Horizons of Parallel and Distributed Computing is intended for industry researchers and developers, as well as for academic researchers and advanced-level students in computer science and electrical engineering. A valuable reference work, it is also suitable as a textbook.
