Proceedings of the National Conferences on Labor Legislation, 1934 to 1955

Book Description

The first movement to organize a conference of those engaged in the publication of statistics concerning the industrial classes was begun in 1883. The result was the first assembly of the labor statisticians of the country. At that time, eleven states had established bureaus or departments devoted to the procuring and publishing of facts and figures relating to the condition of their working people. The fact that these gatherings continued not only indicates the interest which is attached throughout the country to this line of investigation, but justifies the annual conferences, and emphasizes the advantages derived from them.
