The dual-temperature exchange process for concentration of heavy water is discussed. Requirements have been estimated for an assumed set of operating conditions in a plant to produce 40 tons/yr. of heavy water as a 15 mole percent solution in light water. Among the undesirable qualities of the dual-temperature process are the estimated high plant investment, uncertainties about equilibrium conditions and corrosion, and the large inventory of isopropyl mercaptan, a highly toxic chemical. No further study of the process was made.
