Most people have a misconception about cheating – the onus largely falls on men being the ones responsible for it. As a result, they’re often treated with much more leniency than women who cheat. They tend to face far more dire consequences than their masculine counterparts. However, Sue Jo Horton, also known as, Sujo, is here to show that cheating is wrong, regardless of one’s gender. Cheating is Disgusting is an autobiographical account of her life. A retired hairdresser, Sue spent most of her formative years seeing her father treat her mother poorly and vowed never to become like her or let men treat her like that. However, while growing up with a cheating father, Sue didn’t realize how his habits, unintentionally, translated into her own and affected her relationships later in life. Cheating is Disgusting is her story. It gives one a raw look into Sue’s life as she bares it all in this daring account in the hopes that readers can learn from her mistakes and avoid them in their own lives.

After his dad died, John David¿J.D.¿took to the old pick up, Rust Bucket, as lovingly as he could, as the one object that his fondest memories of his father would remain forever. Apart from Rust Bucket, though, the young J.D. passed through life with mixed feelings about his mom, his stepfather, Danny, and his other relatives. The Jefferies, on the other hand, are a constant inspiration to him, as well as his best friend, Rocky. A poignant story about growing up, Rust Bucket by Rosey Sommerfeld weaves a touching story of a child¿s rite of passage to the momentous realizations of his life, of moving on after the death of a loved one.

In Farewell to the Starlight in Whiskey, Barton Sutter explores the wilderness along the Canadian border, sings about love in midlife, meditates on the roots of war, attacks political leaders, recounts peculiar heroics of an epileptic Vietnam vet, writes a "personal" ad in the voice of a chickadee and talks to a dead jackpine. A deft practitioner of meter and rhyme, Sutter is a fireside storyteller who makes the language thump and sing. Barton Sutter is the only author to win the Minnesota Book Award in three different categories, including poetry, for The Book of Names: New and Selected Poems (BOA). Its my hope that youve enjoyed Stepping from the Shadows and that in these pages you have found the inspiration you were looking for. It occurs to me that with each poem I write, I am giving you a very real part of myselfeven as you have already given to me in the inspiration of the poem. And so it goes a constant cycle of you and me giving and receiving inspiration one from another. It is my prayer that you may be drawn back to this collection of poetry many times, as we all at times once again feel the need to step from the shadows of our life.

The Silent Hurt portrays a young poor country girl with a disability who was labeled harshly by society. Even so, through strong determination and a powerful inner spirit, she refused to accept those labels. Jo Ann Coleman was born in the forties and lived in a very small town in Louisiana. At age five, she started school and soon realized that she was not like the other boys and girls in her class. Struggling first in elementary school, where she was immediately labeled as retarded, she eventually lost sight in her right eye. She grew up among cousins, without her parents, and constantly felt depressed and alone, facing name-calling from her peers. She graduated from high school and received a scholarship to attend nursing school--only to lose the scholarship due to missing an important letter. Because of her silent depression as a child, she eventually attempted suicide. Her disability and low self-esteem made her feel that no one cared. When she finally let Jesus Christ direct her life, however, everything turned around. She turned adversity into triumph and now seeks to inspire those afflicted by physical, emotional, and mental handicaps and low self-esteem. Although she made many mistakes and had her flaws, those flaws would eventually become her joy, peace, and contentment. with the true peace that comes from knowing Jesus Christ, she discovered the life she had been dreaming of since childhood.
