Ralph Fairbanks works for the Great Northern Railway as a train dispatcher. He is a young man who is just beginning to attract the attention of girls. He has worked his way up the ranks and is now a trusted and respected employee. When the story begins there is a strike and Ralph's employers are asking his opinions about it. This is a children's novel and is an exciting story set in the world of railways in the early 20th century.
