This report reviews the results of the measures taken by industry and government agencies to curtail mercury losses in liquideffluents, in products, in impounded solids and in air emissionsfrom mercury cell chlor-alkali plants in Canada. Status reportspertaining to actions taken to limit mercury losses in liquideffluents were issued for the years 1975, 1976-77, 1978-79 and1980-81. This is the first status report dealing with compliancewith federal regulations relating to both air emissions andliquid effluents. In addition, mercury losses in products andsolid wastes are examined.
