Fostering & enhancing women's health (WH) res. is a central function of the Off. of Res. on WH (ORWH) of the NIH. Since its establishment in Sept. 1990, ORWH has strived to meet its mandates to: strengthen & enhance res. related to diseases, disorders, & conditions that affect women; ensure that res. conducted & supported by NIH adequately addresses issues regarding WH; ensure that women are appropriately represented in biomed. & bio-behavioral res. studies supported by NIH; & develop opportunities for & support recruitment, retention, reentry, & advancement of women in biomed. careers.
