This book presents a consistent development of the Kohn-Nirenberg type global quantization theory in the setting of graded nilpotent Lie groups in terms of their representations. It contains a detailed exposition of related background topics on homogeneous Lie groups, nilpotent Lie groups, and the analysis of Rockland operators on graded Lie groups together with their associated Sobolev spaces. For the specific example of the Heisenberg group the theory is illustrated in detail. In addition, the book features a brief account of the corresponding quantization theory in the setting of compact Lie groups. The monograph is the winner of the 2014 Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Prize.

This book provides the latest competing research results on non-commutative harmonic analysis on homogeneous spaces with many applications. It also includes the most recent developments on other areas of mathematics including algebra and geometry. Lie group representation theory and harmonic analysis on Lie groups and on their homogeneous spaces form a significant and important area of mathematical research. These areas are interrelated with various other mathematical fields such as number theory, algebraic geometry, differential geometry, operator algebra, partial differential equations and mathematical physics. Keeping up with the fast development of this exciting area of research, Ali Baklouti (University of Sfax) and Takaaki Nomura (Kyushu University) launched a series of seminars on the topic, the first of which took place on November 2009 in Kerkennah Islands, the second in Sousse on December 2011, and the third in Hammamet on December 2013. The last seminar, which took place December 18th to 23rd 2015 in Monastir, Tunisia, has promoted further research in all the fields where the main focus was in the area of Analysis, algebra and geometry and on topics of joint collaboration of many teams in several corners. Many experts from both countries have been involved.

The representation theory of locally compact groups has been vig orously developed in the past twenty-five years or so; of the various branches of this theory, one of the most attractive (and formidable) is the representation theory of semi-simple Lie groups which, to a great extent, is the creation of a single man: Harish-Chandra. The chief objective of the present volume and its immediate successor is to provide a reasonably self-contained introduction to Harish-Chandra's theory. Granting cer tain basic prerequisites (cf. infra), we have made an effort to give full details and complete proofs of the theorems on which the theory rests. The structure of this volume and its successor is as follows. Each book is divided into chapters; each chapter is divided into sections; each section into numbers. We then use the decimal system of reference; for example, 1. 3. 2 refers to the second number in the third section of the first chapter. Theorems, Propositions, Lemmas, and Corollaries are listed consecutively throughout any given number. Numbers which are set in fine print may be omitted at a first reading. There are a variety of Exam ples scattered throughout the text; the reader, if he is so inclined, can view them as exercises ad libitum. The Appendices to the text collect certain ancillary results which will be used on and off in the systematic exposi tion; a reference of the form A2.

This book contains written versions of the lectures given at the PCMI Graduate Summer School on the representation theory of Lie groups. The volume begins with lectures by A. Knapp and P. Trapa outlining the state of the subject around the year 1975, specifically, the fundamental results of Harish-Chandra on the general structure of infinite-dimensional representations and the Langlands classification. Additional contributions outline developments in four of the most active areas of research over the past 20 years. The clearly written articles present results to date, as follows: R. Zierau and L. Barchini discuss the construction of representations on Dolbeault cohomology spaces. D.
