Review of milk pricing in New Brunswick to determine if the system needs to be modified. The review includes a comparison with P.E.I., Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Newfoundland, and compares retail prices by region within the province. The impact of the 1988 price increase on fluid milk consumption is determined; a comparative analysis of price spreads from farm gate to consumer is conducted; views of various consumer groups, dairies, retailers and the Milk Marketing Board are solicited; and the extent and nature of discounting practices are determined.
