This reading scheme comprises eight titles that can be used alongside any other method of learning to read. The books are intended for beginner readers and focus on phonics. The series introduces most of the 44 sounds in the English language - 26 initial sounds, digraphs (2 letters such as ch), phenomes (blends as in str), middle blends (oo) and final blends (ing). The first 100 most used words are introduced, repeated and carried over from book to book. A further 200 words are used and repeated a minimum of 3 times each in the story in which they first appear. Extra repitition is given in the activity books through a variety of reading, writing and other activities. Through their games and activities the reader is transported to a world of make-believe. Each book begins with pages introducing particular sounds which are then used in the story.

It's a view imprinted on the retina of most South Australians - that majestic vista as you drive into Victor Harbor taking in the town, Granite Island and The Bluff. This is a place of lazy summer holidays, rides on the horse-drawn tram, strolls around Granite Island with an ice cream, fish and chips on the lawn, a cosy winter weekend - a happy place to slow down and relax with loved ones. In this beautiful book, you'll find all this and more as stories from history, newspapers, interviews and oral histories, along with hundreds of images, bring to life the people and places that make Victor Harbor a coveted destination and place to live. You'll meet a host of remarkable people, from the Ramindjeri with their deep spiritual and cultural connection to the land and sea, to the European settlers and the profound change they brought about. Essential to Victor's story are the rough and ready whalers and fishers who once braved the seas of the rugged South Coast. So, too, those involved in community organisations, tourism, agriculture, conservation, business, sport and the arts - trailblazers and local legends pivotal to the social fabric of the town. Victor Harbor: Down beside the sea is the fascinating story of how Victor Harbor came to be, told by the people who live and work in this breathtakingly beautiful coastal locale. Whether you reconnect with Victor Harbor in your armchair or decide to travel from afar to discover the place for yourself, you'll find there's plenty going on 'down beside the sea'.

This is a book about rocket science: what it is and what it does. From the earliest fireworks to nuclear-powered spacecraft, all you would ever want or need to know about the subject is here, along with a straightforward explanation of how, why and when things work—or sometimes don't. We begin with the history and workings of early terrestrial rocketry before moving onto the main subject of the book: how we get things into space and, on occasion, back again. Entirely math-free, the chapters weave together innumerable anecdotes, real-world examples, and easy walk-throughs to help readers break down the complex physics behind some of humankind’s most amazing feats. Neither a pure textbook nor a populist space travel tome, the book will educate, inform and above all entertain anyone intrigued by rocket science.
