Possessed by the Rogue King

Book Description

As daughter to the Alpha of Blue Lake pack, I had everything: beautiful looks, a doting father and a prince suitor, who was every girls' dream. But my perfect world was turned upside down when my pack was slaughtered on my birthday by the most vicious rogues. Even worse, I discovered that the man responsible, the Omega who committed the crimes, was my adoptive brother and my mate. *** "I captured his lips in mine in a tentative kiss. Initially, he didn’t move an inch. He remained still as stone. When I thought I had made a mistake, I moved away, but his arms came around me and pulled me in, deepening the kiss. His kiss was exactly what I expected it to be. Dominating. Commanding. I pulled Zander in closer, deepening the kiss even more. Then suddenly, he ripped his lips from mine. I brought a hand to my tingling lips and stared at him in disbelief. What had just happened?" Possessed by the Rogue King is written by Reina Bellevue, an eGlobal Creative Publishing signed author.

Global Collective Action

Book Description

This book examines how nations and other key participants in the global community address problems requiring collective action. The global community has achieved some successes, such as eradicating smallpox, but other efforts to coordinate nations' actions, such as the reduction of drug trafficking, have not been sufficient. This book identifies the factors that promote or inhibit successful collective action at the regional and global level for an ever-growing set of challenges stemming from augmented cross-border flows associated with globalization. Modern principles of collective action are identified and applied to a host of global challenges, including promoting global health, providing foreign assistance, controlling rogue nations, limiting transnational terrorism, and intervening in civil wars. Because many of these concerns involve strategic interactions where choices and consequences are dependent on one's own and others' actions, the book relies, in places, on elementary game theory that is fully introduced for the uninitiated reader.

Rogues

Book Description

Rogues, published in France under the title Voyous, comprises two major lectures that Derrida delivered in 2002 investigating the foundations of the sovereignty of the nation-state. The term "État voyou" is the French equivalent of "rogue state," and it is this outlaw designation of certain countries by the leading global powers that Derrida rigorously and exhaustively examines. Derrida examines the history of the concept of sovereignty, engaging with the work of Bodin, Hobbes, Rousseau, Schmitt, and others. Against this background, he delineates his understanding of "democracy to come," which he distinguishes clearly from any kind of regulating ideal or teleological horizon. The idea that democracy will always remain in the future is not a temporal notion. Rather, the phrase would name the coming of the unforeseeable other, the structure of an event beyond calculation and program. Derrida thus aligns this understanding of democracy with the logic he has worked out elsewhere. But it is not just political philosophy that is brought under deconstructive scrutiny here: Derrida provides unflinching and hard-hitting assessments of current political realities, and these essays are highly engaged with events of the post-9/11 world.
