Grandmaster Les Kiersnowski was appointed as the head coach of the Arnis Division for the US National Karate Team, They were victorious in the 2006 and 2007 World Cup. Team Sandokan were National Champions in 2008 and 2009. Grandmaster Les was inducted into NAFMA Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2006, World Karate Union Hall of Fame and ICKO Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2009, he was inducted into the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Honors for Outstanding Contribution to Martial Arts and in January 2010, where he also earned a Lifetime Achievement Award. USA Hall of Fame as Martial Art Founder of the Year, March 2013, he received Master of the Year award for Sandokan at the Atlantic City Kung Fu and Karate Expo. In July, 2010 and was recognized by Colonel Lisa McManus, Grandmaster and Founder of Military Arnis. In 2011 Grandmaster Les Kiersnowski was awarded as Martial Arts Founder of the Year for Sandokan by the United Federation of Martial Artists. The Sandokan system is based on physics, principals of martial science and the science of anatomy. Achieving this martial arts system has encompassed many years of research and practical development. "In the worldwide circulation of the products of cultural industries, an important role is played by Japanese popular culture in European contexts. Marco Pellitteri shows that the contact between Japanese pop culture and European youth publics occurred during two phases. By use of metaphor, the author calls them the Dragon and the Dazzle. The first took place between 1975 and 1995, the second from 1996 to today. They can be distinguished by the modalities of circulation and consumption/re-elaboration of Japanese themes and products in the most receptive countries: Italy, France, Spain, Germany and, across the ocean, the United States. During these two phases, several themes have been perceived, in Europe, as rising from Japan's social and mediatic systems. Among them, this book examines the most apparent from a European point of view: the author names them machine, infant, and mutation, visible mostly through manga, anime, videogames, and toys. Together with France, Italy is the European country that in this respect has had the most central role. Produced in Italy from the turn of the 20th century, "sword and sandal" or peplum films were well received in the silent era and attained great popularity in the 1960s following the release of Hercules (1959), starring Mr. Universe Steve Reeves. A global craze for Bronze Age fantasy-adventures ensued and the heroic exploits of Hercules, Maciste, Samson and Goliath were soon a mainstay of American drive-ins and second-run theaters (though mainly disparaged by critics).
