He had not prepared them for the prefs; and they cannot be expected to have all the accuracy or the elegance of his former publications. The Editor did not think himfelf at liberty to hazard correelions, by which he might have done injuflice to the peculiar fiyle and manner of the Author; but he has been at pains to compare different manu fcripts on the fame fubjeets together, and has taken advantage of the notes, which were of late years prepared for the pulpit.
