Shadows In The Sunset - Three Novellas

Book Description

“Shadows in the Sunset” consists of three novellas, the first being the story that gives the book its title, a story of a Summer lost and never forgotten. It follows a group of youths adventuring through the terrain of Big Sur. Moments are made and the truth of everything is felt through each person’s expression. The second novella is “Underland (The Lost Children),” which follows the simple story of James and Summer, two “fools” just visiting the country fair. Lastly, “A House with No Progression,” which is about an artist named Ray and his girlfriend, Annabel Lee. They live together in isolation and have formed their own world within those walls. We begin to see signs of malice and realize that distinguishing reality from fiction is a difficult process for the artist.

People magazine said of Katherine Neville’s debut novel and #1 international bestseller, The Eight: “With alchemical skill, Neville blends modern romance, historical fiction, and medieval mystery . . . and comes up with gold.” Mining a fertile territory of international intrigue, complex conspiracies, history-spanning storylines, and unstoppable female heroines, Neville has arguably struck gold with all three of these thrillers. A Calculated Risk: In this New York Times Notable Book, computer expert Verity Banks is the one of the most powerful women in finance and has a shot at becoming director of security at the Federal Reserve. When her boss sabotages her career ambitions, Verity decides to get revenge by targeting the company’s balance sheet. To beat both Zoltan and her boss, Verity must risk her professional reputation—and her very life. The Eight: In sweeping parallel stories set in the 1970s and the 1790s, Catherine Velis, a computer expert, and Mireille and Valentine, novices in an abbey during the French Revolution, must prevent a legendary chess set containing secret powers from falling into the wrong hands.
