Simply God, Encouragement for the Soul

Book Description

You will find yourself engaged in these short stories and applications, as you too have experienced many of the same glimpses of life's daily tasks. The devotionals included in Simply God are devotionals which were spun off of Cathy Jodeit's Sweet Sixteen journey. Following that journey, Cathy responded to God's nudge and continued to faithfully write what the Lord put upon her heart. You will relate to many of these devotionals and find them to be a simple read with a simple life application. Cathy has learned that for God to be effective in our lives, He has to meet us where we are and then faithfully walk along side us until we learn to faithfully walk along side Him.

Simply God

Book Description

When pastors and evangelists preach, they try to convince you to change your lifestyle now. This is not their fault. They know that they have to do this. They have to get you close to God because time could be short. That is not equipping and preparing. Equipping and preparing means giving you the tools of the trade. That is living Gods Word and how to plan to do this. The Word teaches that pastors are to equip the servants. All that time convincing and not equipping is destroying Gods world. Jesus equipped and encouraged Gods children and changed the world. What is our excuse? We need to divert all our mental and physical abilities to become like Jesus and begin to feel these changes in our bodies. We have to stop becoming people of behaviors. Over many generations, we have reacted to what we have seen and heard and to the pleasures the world has given us. We dont look and listen to God anymore, because he doesnt give us what we want when we want it. When the world sees this, it gives us what we want and we take it. We are not patient enough! God gives us what we need. As long as the world dangles that carrot in front of our faces, we will continue to pull that heavy, burdensome load of sin and pain. It is only by seeing and hearing what God does in this world to bless his children that will show us how his grace and greatness will tower above our fears.

Simply Christian

Book Description

Why is justice fair? Why are so many people pursuing spirituality? Why do we crave relationship? And why is beauty so beautiful? N. T. Wright argues that each of these questions takes us into the mystery of who God is and what he wants from us. For two thousand years Christianity has claimed to answer these mysteries, and this renowned biblical scholar and Anglican bishop shows that it still does today. Like C. S. Lewis did in his classic Mere Christianity, Wright makes the case for Christian faith from the ground up, assuming that the reader is starting from ground zero with no predisposition to and perhaps even some negativity toward religion in general and Christianity in particular. His goal is to describe Christianity in as simple and accessible, yet hopefully attractive and exciting, a way as possible, both to say to outsides ÔYou might want to look at this further,Ö and to say to insiders ÔYou may not have quite understood this bit clearly yet.Ö

Rhinestone Jesus

Book Description

In high school, Kristen Welch wore a big, sparkly rhinestone “Jesus” pin to school every day and carried her Bible wherever she went. (Yes, she was that girl.) But she didn’t realize her faith, though sincere, was shallow; much like her artificial accessory, it would one day tarnish, no longer a true fit for who she was. As real life catapulted Kristen into places and situations she’d never imagined, there came a day when she stood shocked in the slums of Africa and realized in one desperate moment that Jesus wasn’t enough for her. At least . . . she wasn’t living like He was. On the brink of a risk bigger than any she’d ever taken, Kristen knew she didn’t stand a chance—unless she was willing to put aside the rhinestones and get branded by the real thing. Rhinestone Jesus is the story of one woman’s journey from comfortably living a safe, “good-girl” faith that didn’t cost much, to realizing that God was daring her to say yes to a bolder, more authentic, more dangerous way. This story of spiritual adventure throws the doors wide open for any woman who’s ever thought of herself as “just a mom.” Kristen will inspire and empower you to say yes to God right where you are—and stand amazed at how your life will shine.

One Minute Faith

Book Description

One Minute Faith: Encouragement for a Hungry Soul: This book will help you to undertake an active role in your fellowship with others. It will also help with trusting in the Bible, and in having faith in Jehovah God. It’s a resource that can help brighten your day through the use of comforting little passages of scripture, and creative inspirations. It can also be used as a daily, or weekly, reflection and devotional. It’s filled with words of encouragement and anecdotes designed to challenge you in your walk of grace, by encouraging you to engage your faith through acts of kindness, discipleship and faith in God. It is not the Bible, but it draws from biblical teachings, principles, and concepts that help encourage, motivate, educate and foster a desire to learn more about the promises that the Lord Thy God has made to his people and to those of us who have been engrafted into His Holy Kingdom. In the process of reading this book, you will be encouraged, which may energize you to get more involved in taking an active role in your faith walk. You may even find yourself beginning to encourage others by sharing some of the short messages on faith, and worship with others. Remember, it’s not a substitute for the Bible, but it is a reminder to take a moment to reflect on the Good News of the Gospel, and on the simple truth that Jesus Saves! He took our sins, trespasses and iniquities, and carried it all to the cross; bearing the weight of the world upon Himself, so that we would have a chance at everlasting lasting life, in the presence of an Almighty God. This book reminds us to tell others about the price that was paid for our salvation, and to help others to see that we have a Lord, who truly loves us more than we love ourselves. He is the Way, the Truth and the “Life” (John 14:6).So, if you want to encourage yourself or others, then this book is for YOU! It was designed to be an easy read that can be shared over lunch, dinner or as you are riding along in your car or truck. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to buy it as a gift, for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, or just for the fun and pleasure of reading an encouraging word. I will tell you that, of my friends in the faith who’ve read it, they loved it… and a great many of them have shared it with others in the faith… Sometimes they shared it with those who were not even faithful believers, who simply needed to be encouraged, and reminded that they are not alone in their walk through life’s situations, circumstances, trials, and tribulations, and it helped. So, the simple answer is this… we all need encouragement on some level, and this book is extremely helpful at getting some positive messages into the hands and the hearts of others. So, be encouraged in your faith and grace walk, and just know that you are not alone! Hebrews 13:5 KJV: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, norforsake thee.

Renovation of the Heart

Book Description

As Christians, we know that we are new creations in Jesus. So we try to act differently, hoping this will make us more like Him. But changing our outward behavior doesn’t change our hearts. Only by God’s grace can we be transformed internally. Renovation of the Heart lays a biblical foundation for understanding what best-selling author Dallas Willard calls the “transformation of the spirit”—a divine process that “brings every element in our being, working from inside out, into harmony with the will of God.” This fresh approach to spiritual growth explains the biblical reasons why Christians need to undergo change in six aspects of life: thought, feeling, will, body, social context, and soul. Willard also outlines a general pattern of transformation in each area, not as a sterile formula but as a practical process that you can follow without the guilt or perfectionism so many Christians wrestle with. Don’t settle for complacency. Accept the challenge Renovation of the Heart offers to become an intentional apprentice of Jesus Christ, changing daily as you walk with Him.
