Mary Gordon Duffee wrote: "When the drums beat, and the bugles called for men to march to the front, I tell you old Blount responded nobly, and sent hundreds of her gallant sons to march, fight, suffer and die for the flag that now lies furled forever." This series of books attempts to identify all the Confederate soldiers who enlisted in organizations from the Blount County area, along with those who moved to Blount County after the Civil War. Whole company rosters are captured and entire service records, pension applications, birth dates, spouses and marriage dates, newspaper clippings and obituaries, and dozens of pictures are contained in these volumes. This is the first time ever all this information has been available in a single reference book. Volume 3 contains information on soldiers who enlisted in other Alabama organizations and those who moved to Blount County after the Civil War. These books are vital to any serious student of Blount County, Alabama genealogy and history.

This Genealogy collection is associated as the second volume to The Desloge Chronicles - A Tale of Two Continents, a monograph of this family actually present at significant historical moments, unfolding on the new American Frontier and witnessing live events unfolding in Europe. This family legacy - as framed in this project - is one of the great pictures of American and European action figures. While many families have long and distinguished legacies, some known, some unknown or undiscovered, this Desloge family at this moment in time, this unique combination of strings of ancestry make for an amazing and compelling legend even for the most jaded historian. Christopher Davis Desloge is a fifth-generation of the Desloge Family in America. Long known as one of the family's historians, his general sense of curiosity has led him to investigate fascinating historical elements revealed in these letters and genealogy.

The Youngers—Bob, Cole, Jim, and John—tested the boundaries of the violent and turbulent post-Civil War society in which they lived. The author investigates the events from the Border and Civil Wars which forged their characters, their intricate relationships, the innovative train and bank robberies in which they participated, and their decades-long fight for freedom. Brant’s extensive research includes unpublished accounts from family members, the families of their enemies and victims, and hundreds of revealing historical documents. The story of the Youngers as more than the folklore figures they have grown to be demonstrates that often the truth is more fascinating than the fiction.
