Freeway Traffic Analysis

Book Description

Route 50 has experienced a 50% growth in westbound (inbound) morning peak hour traffic in the past four years. Indications are that this growth rate will continue for the foreseeable future. At the present time some minor queuing is frequently occurring in the westbound lanes just west of the 48th Street overcrossing. The current minimal delays indicate that the facility is just now beginning to operate at capacity. It is evident, however, that the anticipated increase in demand will result in serious congestion in the very near future if some remedial steps are not taken.
