Rachmaninoff's set of ten Préludes Op. 23 was composed in 1901 to 1902 and includes some of the most dazzling late Romantic music for the piano such as the famous Prelude in G minor. The C sharp minor Prélude Op. 3 No. 2 also included here was the first work Rachmaninoff composed as a free artist upon graduation from the Moscow Conservatory aged 19. It has become one of the most famous of all works for the piano.
