Excerpt from The Adolfo Stahl Lectures in Astronomy, Delivered in San Francisco, California, in 1916-17 and 1917-18, Under the Auspices of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific Mr. Stahl's offer was gratefully accepted by the Society and it was voted that the course of lectures be known as the adolfo stahl lectures IN astronomy. It was further voted that, in recognition of this gift, Mr. Stahl be elected a patron and a life member of the Society. The lectures were given, as originally planned, by Director W. \v. Campbell and Astronomers R. G. Aitken and H. D. Curtis of the Lick Observatory, in Native Sons' Hall, San Francisco, in November and December, 1916, and January, February, March, and April, 1917.
