Book Description

Bridging the gap between undergraduate and postgraduate knowledge and experience, this new full colour resource uses an interdisciplinary approach to help manage chronic conditions – osteoarthritis, Achilles tendinopathy, gout, rheumatic diseases, forefoot/rearfoot entities, stress fractures/reactions, cerebral palsy – in the lower limb and foot. Each chapter includes sections on predisposing factors, diagnosis, impairments, function, quality of life and management strategies while highlighting any complex features of a condition which may present. The latest advances are discussed with suggestions for new paths of research – 'future directions'. The text is further supported by additional commentaries from internationally renowned researchers who highlight the key elements of the work and provide a supplementary perspective of the particular clinical condition. Patterns of Activity-Induced Pathology in a Canadian Inuit Population

Book Description

Aspects of degenerative and traumatic pathology were studied in a skeletal series of Hudson Bay Inuit recovered from the site of Tunirmiut at Native Point, Southampton Island, Northwest Territories in 1955 and 1959. From these studies of the Sadlermiut, a people who became extinct during the winter of 1902-03, twenty activity patterns which had the potential of leaving a permanent imprint on the skeleton were identified─some of these common to humanity in general, some characteristic of all Inuit, and some unique to the Sadlermiut.

Hyperparathyroidism

Book Description

This book is the result of the collaboration between worldwide authorities of different specialities in hyperparathyroidism. It aims to provide a general but deep view of primary/secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism, from a physiological basis to hyperparathyroidism in hemodialyzed patients, as well as new treatment approaches, techniques and surgical scenarios. We hope that the medical and paramedical researchers will find this book helpful and stimulating. We look forward to sharing knowledge of hyperparathyroidism with a wider audience.
