Not illustrated. 1882 edition. Excerpt: ...It was generally understood that the Executive Committee would meet some time in November next, and the whole Council early in the following year. The position of the Central Council at the end of 1881 is this: --Twenty-four Diocesan Conferences have had the matter formally put before them. Nineteen Conferences out of the twenty-four have, by large majorities, and in several cases unanimously, agreed to send representatives, viz. Winchester, Bangor, Chichester, Ely, Hereford, Lichfield, Lincoln, Norwich, Oxford, Peterborough, Rochester, St. Albans, St. Asaph, Truro, Ripon, Chester, Carlisle, Manchester, Sodor and Man. Only one Conference--Bath and Wells--has suggested another plan. Committees of the Conferences of Canterbury, Gloucester and Bristol, Salisbury, Liverpool, have been appointed to consider and report on the subject. The Conferences of Exeter, St. David's, York, and Durham have not had the matter yet brought before them. The following are the representatives of the nineteen Dioceses named above: --Winchester.--Lay: Lord Henry Scott, M.P., Right Hon. G. Cubitt, M.P., and M. Portal, Esq. Clerical: Archdeacon Atkinson, Kev. W. Durst, and Rev. Canon Sumner. Banoor.--Lay: Lord Penrhyn, R. Lloyd Edwards, Esq., and Major Piatt. Clerical: The Dean of Bangor, Rev. John Price, and Rev. P. C. Ellis. Chichester.--Lay: W. E. Hubbard, jun., Esq., Hon. R. Denman, and Sir W. Barttelot, Bart., M.P. Clerical: Archdeacon of Chichester, Archdeacon of Lewes, and Rev. Dr. Crosse.
