Desert of Wheat - Kurt marries the daughter of a rancher and she nurses him back to health after his tour of Germany during World War I. The film "Riders of the Dawn" was based on his book. Zane Grey (1872 -1939) was known for his American frontier novels and in particular Riders of the Purple Sage (1912). Many of his books were later turned into Hollywood films and he eventually moved to California to be closer to his work in the film industry.
