During the year 1888-9 the Committee have given Special attention to the Lending Department, which has been in use by the public upwards of eleven years a considerable number of volumes needed replacement, while the Juvenile Section, from the excessive ly hard usage to which it has been subjected by two generations of juvenile readers, needed a thorough reorganization. Besides re placing a large number of worn-out Volumes, and placing the Juvenile Section on a sound footing once more, the 'heavier sections of the Library have been considerably strengthened by the addition of a large number of new works, and of standard manuals of science and art.
