Excerpt from The First Part of Jacobs and Doring's Latin Reader: Adapted to Andrews and Stoddard's Latin Grammar, and to Andrew's First Latin Book The object of this work is to obtain a full and consecutive account of all the facts of our Lord's life and ministry. In order to do this, the four gospel nar-i ratives have been so brought to ther, as to present as nearly as possible the true chronological order, and w iere the same transaction is described by more than one writer, the different accounts are placed side by side, so as to fill out and supply each other. Such an arrangement affords the only full and perfect survey of all the testimony relating to any and every portion of our Lord's his tory. The evangelists are thus made their own best inte teters; and it is shown how wonderfully they are supplementary to each ot er in minute as well as in important articulars, and in this way is brought out fully and clearly the fundament characteristics of their testimony, unity in diversity. To Bible classes, Sabbath schools, and all who love and seek the truth in their closets and in their families, this work will be found a useful assistant.
