After a year his enemies attacked, and the Tsar sent his army with his elder son at the head to face them in the east. The golden cockerel grew quiet, but after eight days, it once again began to crow. The Tsar turned to his younger son for help, and sent another army with his younger son at its head. When the second son didn't return as well, Dadon himself went to look for them. Among the high mountains he found his sons dead, with swords plunged into each other, as well as a Shamakhan princess in a fabulous tent...
