Building Faith in a Christian’S Life to Please God

Book Description

In this book, Elder William D. Holmes talks about the importance of having faith in God. It is necessary to live a life to please God in true holiness and righteousness. He uses real-life testimonies and experiences of sanctified, Holy Ghost-filled believers he grew up with in the HolinessPentecostal Church. It is through these powerful, real-life testimonies and his own life experiences that cause him to speak with boldness that Jesus truly is a healer, miracle worker, and savior. He also uses Bible accounts of the miracle-working power of God through our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. He explains about the different tactics of Satan and how he will try to hinder a person from getting their deliverance from God, how we can defeat Satan and get our blessing, why it takes so long for God to answer prayers, the difference between healing being made whole, and what divine healing is and how God can work with medical profession to bring about healing. He talks about the different levels of the Spirit a believer can climb in God. This book gives a clear statement that, without holiness, no person shall see the Lord. Jesus came into the world, not only to forgive us of our sins, but to take sin out of us. Jesus also comes to deliver us from all sickness and disease. Through the stripes of Jesus, we can be healed. Take the limit off of God! This is a very powerful book to increase the faith of a believer to trust God through his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to meet your every need.

Bream Gives Me Hiccups

Book Description

The wildly inventive debut collection of stories by the Oscar-nominated star of The Social Network. “Hilarious . . . It’s a hoot” (People, The Best New Books). Jesse Eisenberg, known for his iconic film roles, his regular pieces in the New Yorker and two critically acclaimed plays, proves himself “a deeply original comic voice” in these 28 stories” about the funniness, sadness, and strangeness of everyday life and they really made me laugh” (Roz Chast). Moving from contemporary LA to the dorm rooms of an American college to ancient Pompeii, Eisenberg throws the reader into a universe of social misfits, reimagined scenes from history, and ridiculous overreactions; a college freshman forced to live with a roommate is stunned when one of her ramen packets goes missing (“She didn’t have ‘one’ of my ramens. She had a chicken ramen.”); Alexander Graham Bell has teething problems with his invention (“I’ve been calling Mabel all day, she doesn’t pick up! Yes, of course I dialed the right number—2!”); and in the title story, a precocious and privileged nine-year-old boy finds himself in the uncomfortable position as an amateur restaurant critic. Featuring illustrations by award-winning cartoonist Jean Jillian, this “alphabet soup of sketches, riffs, and innovations” (Seattle Times) explores the various insanities of the modern world, “playfully bringing both familiar and wholly original scenarios to life” (Marie Claire). Selected Writings on Slavic and General Linguistics

Book Description

The larger part of the present volume is about Slavic historical linguistics while the second part is about more general issues and methodological aspects. The initial chapters contain a revision of the author’s Slavic Accentuation and a discussion of the Slovene evidence for the Late Proto-Slavic accentual system and of the Kiev Leaflets. These are complemented by an extensive review of Garde’s theory and an introductory article about the work of earlier authors for those who are unfamiliar with the subject. Then follows a discussion of changes in the vowel system, Bulgarian developments, final syllables in Slavic, early changes in the consonant system, and of Halle and Kiparsky’s review of Garde’s book. This results in a relative chronology of 70 stages from Proto-Indo-European to Slavic. The following chapters deal with the progressive palatalization, the accentuation of West and South Slavic languages, various aspects of the Old Slovene manuscripts, the chronology of nominal paradigms, and other issues under discussion in recent publications. The second part of the present volume contains a number of case studies exemplifying specific theoretical problems, most of them of a semantic nature. The synchronic studies deal with Russian and Japanese syntax and semantics, the diachronic studies with tonogenesis in different languages and with semantic reconstruction in Altaic and Chinese.
