Book Description

Excerpt from The Journal of Education for Lower Canada, 1860, Vol. 4 You are asked to pass a measure which, by the abolition of all tests as regards instructors, treats as a matter of indifference whether the education, the formation and cultivation of the minds of youth, be entrusted to those whose religious feelings will cause them to labour diligently to train them in a right direction; or to those whose total indifference, or total unbelief, may endanger every good and virtuous principle; a measure which treats as equally right those who believe the cardinal fundamental doctrines of Christianity and those who disbelieve them which rather invites and encourages religious discord than seeks to remove or suppress it. In the name of that God whose truth and whose worship are thus disregarded, I protest against this bill. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
