The Lochleven Angler (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from The Lochleven Angler Grateful acknowledgment must here be made of the assistance afforded by many of the most regular frequenters of Lochleven, in the present endeavour to collect together in a readable form all that has from an angling point of view been considered worthy of note in connection either with the lake and its fishings, or with the nature and habits of its finny inhabitants, and the most approved mode of angling its waters. In particular, the aid afforded by Mr David Marshall, the tacksman of the fishiugs, has been of very material value. Indeed, it is in a great measure owing to the kindness with which he has furnished infor mation as to the produce of the loch during the long series of years it has been under his and his late father's manage ment, that many of those details have been obtained which have tended to give to the following observations a prac tical importance and value greater than could otherwise have been reasonably claimed for them.
